Introduction

Dear members we searched the "Net".. high and low.. and believe we have found the best talk / chat software available to compliment our members web-site. Unlike the old chat area of our first message board this one resides on our web server.. free of junk ads and time lags.

We are calling this area "Members Talk" oppose to members chat... the reason.. well.. lets just say we as a group are a little "different" than the rest.. after all.. don't we all drive.. the indisputable..uncontestable.. Ultimate Road Machine ?

A Quick Look

One of the neatest features of phpMyChat 0.14.5 is the detachable "navigator"that you can detach from the chat area.. close the chat area down and leave it ("navigator") on your desk top while either reading over the DQCog web-site.. the forums or surfing the "Net". When a fellow member enters the chat area... prepared to "chat".. you will see who the member is as well as what area of the live talk he is at... if the navigator is behind your current window. and you have your sound card on.. you will definitely know your not alone, when some one enters the membes talk area.

Jump Start

For those members who.. already have experience with using a chat area.. or for those who don't but want to get started there are 3 things you need to to to jump in. 1. Even though you are a member.. you still have to register. 2. After you have registered you have to enter your username and password. 3 Choose an area of discussion or create you own topic area (chat room)

We have created some "starter areas" to pre-isolate the topics of discussion related to the Dodge Dakota Quad Cab: Modifications... Accessories... Performance... Garage... Chapters... Rallies.. Meets.. Outdoors... Hobbies. The General area is where you can park yourself until your ready to jump into something more specific. Though the many areas may seem a little widespread at this time... down the road... you just never know.

How Do I Know.. When To Chat?

A quick way to see if it's worth going to the members chat area is to check the forum front page.. check to see how many users are on-line.

From here you can.. click on the "currently browsing" link to get to the section of the page.. pictured below.

Here you can check to see what members are online.. and compare it to the list of members that are explained below.

Though a chat type area offers many possibilities...one of the most disappointing things about a chat area is that when you finally get up enough nerve to go there... there is either... no one there.. or no one you know.. or no one.. you would like to really talk to.. and who knows.. what.. knuckle heads are listening in on your conversations.

Is It Safe To Chat?

Not to worry... the chat area is DQCog members restricted.. meaning.. were all from the same.. family! ... well if that doesn't make you feel secure.. all members are on file and most of them seem reasonably sane... to me. Did I mention you need access codes to get in the chat area?

Be sure to go to: DQCog... Chapters... Members... Meetings... Rallies... Chats if you haven't already.. and let us know.. you are interested in using the "Live Talk" area. We are using this area to get our "Talk" times organized and to meet and get aquatinted with the members you will be talking and making friends with.. as well as their interests of discussion and the times they are likely to be on-line. Also.. once we get... a bit more organized.. we will be scheduling regular live talk sessions on a weekly or monthly basis.
