For those of us who's trucks are starting to get a bit older.. avoiding serious engine problems is good for the wallet.. especially if the warranty is about to or has run out.

With emails continuing to come in from those Dakota owners who have lost and engine or who have noticed sludge build up.. making sure it doesn't occur to you is of great importance.

This update we focus on understanding you engine oil pressure gauge and what it's trying to tell you. We look at ways to determine if you have a sludge problem and discuss where to look to locate a oil sludge problem.

This update we've included 4 videos for you to compare your Dakota's truck engine oil pressure readings. Each one depicts your engines oil pressure readings at different rpm levels. It includes stereo sound so you can use it to compare engine sound inside the cab with your truck. These videos are a good indication as to how your oil pressure gauge should be reading and reacting.. if your 4.7.. engine is in relatively good shape.

Is your oil pressure way to low.. is it too high.. or is it normal? Knowing which can help you diagnose the cause as well as the fix. Your engine's lubricating system is more than just a oil and a filter change.. understanding how it works.. as well as it's quirks could save you quite a bundle of money.
